Since 1993, JL Audio W6 subwoofers have embodied the optimal combination of trade-offs required to reproduce exceptional in-car bass from very compact enclosures. W6v3’s are the third generation of this acclaimed pedigree, representing a giant leap forward in our quest for small box bass perfection.

W6v3 subwoofers share key groundbreaking technologies with their flagship W7 brethren resulting in distortion levels well below audibility throughout the driver’s dynamic range. In addition to these technologies, W6v3’s also incorporate an innovative cooling structure that efficiently channels air around the voice coil to optimize power handling and fidelity. The suspension design features a rubber surround for enhanced durability and a large-diameter, progressive roll spider for linear compliance over the woofer’s excursion range. W6v3 cones are injection-molded, mineral-filled polypropylene and feature a silver accent ring that creates a classy look in combination with the satin black cast alloy basket. All W6v3’s offer dual 4-ohm voice coils that can be wired in series for an 8-ohm load, or in parallel for a 2-ohm load.

Both W6v3 models offer impressive linear excursion of 0.75-inches (19 mm), one-way, along with highly powerful magnetic systems that have been optimized via our proprietary DMA technology to maintain a highly stable magnetic field over the entire excursion envelope of the driver. This leads directly to significant reductions in audible distortion and creates a tighter, more accurate low-frequency presentation in your vehicle, at any listening level.

This highly advanced Subwoofer offers several technologies shared with the flagship W7AE subwoofers to provide powerful advantages in motor linearity and suspension behavior. These combine with a very efficient cooling circuit to deliver reduced distortion and outstanding dynamic balance.

The 12W6v3 is best used with amplifier power in the 200W - 600W range and is optimized to operate in a sealed enclosure with only 1.0 cu. ft. (28.3 l) of air space, or a 1.3 cu. ft (36.8 l) ported enclosure.

Greater excursion capability and higher power handling distinguish it from our 12W3v3 12-inch Subwoofer, allowing for higher output. Dual 4 ? voice coils permit deploying the W6v3 as a 2 ? or 8 ? driver.
